Norman T. Oliver, 92, of Lincoln, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Jamieson Nursing Home in Harrisville. Born June 23, 1921 to Theodore and Harriet (Lecuyer) Oliver in Lincoln, he was a lifelong resident. Norman was in the Army in WWII where he served in the European Theatre. On June 3, 1946 he married Wilma Somers in Lincoln. He was a longtime employee at Oliver’s Garage of Lincoln and was later employed by the Village of Lincoln as the road maintenance supervisor from 1966 until 1987. He also worked part-time for Gillies Funeral Home for many years. Norman was a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church and a former member of the American Legion. Norman is survived by his wife, Wilma, three daughters, Barbara (Jim) Potter of Harrisville; Marilyn (Bernard) Brown of East Lansing; and Joyce (Steve) Anderson of Clio, two sons, Leroy (Ilona) Oliver of Alger, and Keith Oliver (partner Alex Paz) of Palm Springs, CA, five grandchildren, Martin (Julie) Potter, Derek (Carrie) Oliver, Jarod Oliver, Courtney Brown, and Ashley Brown, two step grandchildren, Lance and Marcie Anderson, and six great grandchildren, Amanda, Joshua, Angel, Edgar and Hilda Potter and Callan Oliver. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Mia Potter, grandson, Matt Potter, three sisters, June Oliver; Pearl Oliver; and Dale McIntyre, and two brothers, Donald and Raymond Oliver. Mr. Oliver is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Friday, February 21, from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday, February 22 from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Rev. Mary Soderholm will officiate. Burial will be in Twin Lakes Cemetery, Lincoln, in the Spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Harrisville United Church Food Bank or to the Alcona Humane Society.
