Janet M. Hale, 72, of Mikado, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital. Born April 28, 1941, to Edgar and Nellie (May) Craner in Prescott, MI, she was raised there. On August 29, 1964, she married Jerry Hale, in Prescott, where Janet was a devoted kindergarten teacher. As a military family, they lived in many places throughout the country, settling in Mikado in 1976. Janet served as Mikado Township Clerk from November 1988 through November 1996. She was a volunteer with the local 4H, and with the American Red Cross. She was also a former Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and baking pies, especially apple. Janet was a very crafty lady, who enjoyed numerous projects. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Mikado, and of the Tuesday Friendship Club in Mikado. She is survived by her husband, Jerry, one daughter, Karen (Shane) Moulton of Lincoln, one son, Mark (Betty) Hale of Columbus OH, seven grandchildren, Jac-Lynn (Jeff) Wagner, Jeffrey Barkley, Cassidy Hale, Alyssa Hale, Jennifer Barkley, John Stymiest and Eric Stymiest, two great granddaughters, Gracie Mae Barkley and Savanah Stymiest, and one daughter-in-law, Vicki Hale of Lincoln, as well as several dear friends, Heidi Morang, Julie LeCuyer, Nancy Martin, Rob Rowe, and all of the wonderful women in her Tuesday Friendship Club. She was preceded in death by her son Jerry Hale on May 22, 2012, by one sister and one brother. Mrs. Hale is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Tuesday, from 4 until 8 PM. Visitation continues at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Mikado Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s favorite children’s charity.
