Emery Monroe

Emery M. Monroe, age 93, of Lincoln (Lost Lake Woods Club) passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Lincoln Haven Nursing and Rehab Community. He was born February 14, 1920 in Detroit to Jesse and Elsie (Carlson) Monroe. Emery served in the Navy in WWII. He married Marie (Susie) Donze on October 18, 1941. He was a tool maker in Detroit for Holly Carburetor and later at Harrisville Tool Co. before retiring. His wife, Susie preceded him in death in 1979. On February 13, 1982 he married Margaret (Ostrom) Slater at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elmira Mi. by Msgr. David Germund. Emery moved to Lost Lake woods in 1979 where he built his home. He was preceded in death by his brother Ernest and his sister, Virginia Peters. He is survived by his wife, one son Karl (Lorie) Monroe of Sault Ste Marie Michigan and two grandsons Michael and Jesse. In accordance with his wishes his body has been donated to the University Of Michigan Medical School.
