Heaven gained a new angel on June 25, 2013. Marlene E. Sack, 76, of Hubbard Lake, passed away at her home after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Marlene was born on May 17, 1937 to Clark and Marie (Logan) Somers in Taymouth Twp. and was raised in Montrose, Michigan. When Marlene was in high school she participated in many activities which included softball, basketball, drama club, glee club and many more. On September 19, 1959 she married John Sack. They resided in Bloomfield Hills most of their lives with their three children; David John, Steven Jay, and Julie Ann. She was very supportive of academic programs as well as athletic activities. She served as President of the PTO and was a co-founder of the Bloomfield Boosters. In 1975, Marlene and John decided to take their family on an adventure and moved everyone to Belgium for two years. Her commitment to her children and their schools continued as she was just as active in the International School of Brussels programs. In 1999, Marlene and John retired to their home on Hubbard Lake. She enjoyed watching the grandkids swimming, fishing, and tubing on the water and watching the beautiful sunsets over the lake. She was a very creative person demonstrated by her love of painting. She loved spending time in her flower garden, sometimes for hours. Marlene could strike up a conversation with anyone and become friends with them in an instant. Wherever she was, she made it a better and brighter place, just by being there. Although Alzheimer’s had taken its hold on her memories, it could not touch who she truly was: Graceful, beautiful, and a sense of humor that could rival with the best of them. Marlene is survived by her husband; John, sons; David (Gabrielle) Sack of Farmington, Steven (Jennifer) Sack of Bloomfield Hills, daughter; Julie Sack of Hubbard Lake, eight grandchildren; Matthew, Katherine, Alexander, Adam, Evan, Megan, John, and Jacob, one brother; Marvin (Donna) Somers of Montrose. "In a bitter sweet moment Another angel has found their wings And has set off on flight Safe into the arms of God And to those gone before them Waiting and anticipating Their arrival as they make Their way into heaven" A memorial and celebration of her life will be held at the Montrose United Methodist Church, Montrose, MI on August 16th at 4:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the “Cure Alzheimer’s Fund” (curealz.org) or the “Hospice of Michigan” (hom.org).
