Robert H. Shepherd, 87, of Harrisville, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. Born June 14, 1925 to Harry John and Helen Angeline (Walton) Shepherd in Flint, he was raised in Beaverton. Bob served in the Navy Air Corps during WWII. On October 21, 1949, he married Mary Anne Ouimette in Flint. They were residents of Flint where Bob worked as a mechanic for General Motors for 34 years. He retired in 1980, and they moved to Harrisville. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Harrisville, and of its men’s group. Bob was an avid gardener, and loved to grow plants and flowers. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and woodworking. He is survived by his wife Anne, two daughters, Cynthia A. (Michael) O’Dea of Flint and Susan K. (Larry) Schultz-Miller of Pinconning, one son, Robert F. Shepherd of Harrisville, five grandchildren, Michelle Harrris; Christopher O’Dea; Carrie Beaulieu; and Kyle and Robert Schultz, six great grandchildren, one sister, Lois (Richard) Long of Harrisville, one brother, Charles Shepherd as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Linda Shepherd, and two sisters and one brother. Mr. Shepherd is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Monday, from 4 until 8 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Harrisville, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Rev. Tom Welscott will officiate. Burial will be in the Mikado Cemetery. Memorial donations suggested to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
