Jerome P. Sanborn,96, of Barton City and Mesquite TX. died Monday March 4, 2013 in Mesquite. He was born May 8, 1916 in Hawes Township to Charles A. and Golda (Crawford) Sanborn. Raised in Barton City, he served as a paratrooper in WWII. Jerome married Jean L. Nettleton of Royal Oak in 1939. They are survived by three children, Charles(Priscilla)Georgetown KY, Craig(Andrea)of Mesquite and Gail (Dan Shepherd) of Pagosa Springs CO, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and five great greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn (McGregor), Loretta (Middleton), Minerva (McGregor) and Norma (Todd) and his brothers Leslie, Jack and Herb (Sanborn). Jerome was raised in Alcona County where he lived for many years. He considered Northern Michigan his home, even as he moved to the Detroit Area, where from 1948 until retirement he drove trucks throughout the Eastern United States. A proud member of the teamsters, he worked part time for the union after he quit driving. He returned to Barton City from the Detroit Area, living on the family farm, which had been in the family for nearly a century. Jerome went to be with the Lord and his “Jeanie” on March 4, 2013. Visitation will take place Monday, March 11, 2013 from 4-8 P.M. at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, Visitation will continue Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church, Mikado. Rev Tim Steiner will officiate. Burial will be in the Spring at Maple Ridge, Cemetery, Barton Ciy. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Jerome P.
