Gerald Lee “Jerry” Wells, “Poker Joe”, 71, of Harrisville, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw. Born June 11, 1941, to Charles and Bernice (Howell) Wells in Oxford, MI, he was raised in Leonard MI. Jerry served in the United States Navy. He was a longtime resident of the Standish area, and a resident of Harrisville for 22 years. Jerry loved the out of doors, and fishing, especially for salmon. He was a member of the American Legion Post #254, Mikado. He was an avid poker player, and former race car driver. Jerry is survived by his dear friend, Sara Rempe of Harrisville, two daughters, DeLinda (Keith) Dhyne and Cherie Wells of Grand Rapids, one son, David Wells of Grand Rapids, two grandsons, four granddaughters, and two brothers, Theodore (Pat) Wells of Grayling, and Floyd (Sharolyn) Wells of Imlay City. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
