Joseph P. Runge

Joseph P. Runge, 78, of Barton City, died December 24, 2012 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, MI. He was born August 2, 1934 in Lake Leelanau, Michigan to Oscar and Janet Runge.Raised in Lake Leelanau he married Beverly Dorff there on December 22, 1960. They were longtime Detroit residents wwhere Joe was a Teamster with the local Dock workers. Mr. Runge retired in the early 1990s and he and Beverly moved to Barton City. He enjoyed watching sports, especially Detroit Lions Football, as well as working in his yard and “getting his nails dirty” on small engine repairs. Joseph was also a member of the Barton City Eagles Aerie#4141. He liked a good Bar-be-que, and playing cards. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend, we will miss him terribly. He is survived by his wife, one son Joseph Runge; five daughters; Kathy Manners, Linda Dalpe, Kathy Holroyd, Cindy Schichtel, and Cheri Piper, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and one sister. He was preceded in death by a daughter Pamela Baynai, a son Charley Hendley, two sisters, and one brother. There will be a private family service.
