Herbert E. Murphy, 70, of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012 at his home. Born October 9, 1942 to Herbert and Marion (LaDuke) Murphy in Saginaw, he was raised there. On May 2, 1964, he married Judy Wrathell, in Saginaw, where they resided for many years. Herb worked at Central Foundry for General Motors, until he moved to Lincoln in 1988. He was an avid sportsman and hunter, and enjoyed travelling. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Barton City #4141. He is survived by his wife, Judy; one daughter, Ann (Steve) Carpenter of Clio; one son, Michael (Heather) Murphy of Huston TX; four grandchildren, Steven and Shianne Carpenter; and Michael Jr. and Cadence Murphy; one great granddaughter, Kylie Massey; three brothers, Paul (Marge) Schmidt of Saginaw; Charles (Judy) Schmidt of Perris, CA; and Arthur (May) Milwrick of Grand Junction, MI; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son; Herbert Murphy III in 1978. Mr. Murphy is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will be on Tuesday, December 18, from 1 until 4 P.M. and from 6 until 9 P.M. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, December 19 at 11:00 A.M. until the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be on Thursday, December 20 at 2:00 P.M. at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw.
