Jon J. Stephenson, 73, of Lincoln, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Saginaw St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born in 1938 in Painesville, Ohio. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in architecture from Kent State University and served in the United States Navy. Jon worked as an architect for 44 years in New England and Virginia, designing structures in several nations. His projects were as diverse as a hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the US Embassy in Brasilia and a waste plutonium storage facility in Amarillo. Jon and his first wife, Sandy, had three children. In 1991, he married Maureen Castern, in Roanoke, Virginia, where they resided for many years. In 2010, they moved to Lost Lake Woods Club in Lincoln. Jon was an active member of the Spruce Presbyterian Church and of its choir. He was a talented artist, working in oil and acrylics. He enjoyed Old Time music, and played the fiddle, banjo, guitar, and dulcimer. He was also an avid photographer. A memorial service will be held Friday December 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Spruce Presbyterian Church. Rev. Tom Welscott will officiate. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorial donations are suggested to Inspiration Alcona, Post Office Box 98, Harrisville, MI, 48740, to fund a Contra Country Dance, which will be open to the public, and held this coming May.
