Leonard J. Gauthier, 92, of Harrisville, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Jamieson Nursing Home in Harrisville. Born January 27, 1920 to Eugene and Lydia (Bouchard) Gauthier in Black River, he was raised there. On September 23, 1944 Leonard married Mary Lou Miller. They were Detroit residents moving to St. Clair Shores in 1948, moving to Utica in 1968 and retiring to Harrisville in 1989. He worked in tool and die manufacturing as a process engineer for many years. He was an accomplished wood worker, and was very talented in the art of stained glass, where he had received much recognition. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; four daughters, Carol (Larry) Eberhardt of Clarkston MI, Martha (Gary) Kliebert of Washington MI, Catherine Qualls of Walled Lake MI, and Sandy (Ed) Utsler of Lake Orion MI, nine grandchildren; six grandchildren; two sisters, Trina Downie of Cheboygan MI, and Edna Hayes of Alpena MI, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Gauthier, and Inez Matuzak, and one brother, Laurence Gauthier. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012, from 10 A.M. until the funeral at 11 A.M. at the Harrisville United Methodist Church. Rev. Linda Jo Powers will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the Alcona County Food Pantry. Arrangements were through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
