Veronica M. Ross, 93 of Harrisville, died Friday, January 4, 2008 at Jamieson Nursing Home in Harrisville. She was born November 27, 1914 to Frederick and Mable (Kramer) Morrison. She married Floyd Potts on August 2, 1934; he preceded her in death in 1954. She married Kenneth Walter Ross November 12, 1960 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Harrisville; Veronica (Roni) spent her entire life in Harrisville. Roni was employed at the Northern Sportswear of Harrisville and then by the Alcona County Welfare Department which later became the Department of Social Services. She spent a long and rewarding career serving the citizens of Alcona County. Roni was involved the Order of the Eastern Star, the Presbyterian Women’s Association and the Welfare Board. She served on the Harrisville City Commission. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Richard) Lambert of Bloomfield Hills and Janet (Webb) Martin of Harbor Springs, eight grandchildren, Helen Dix, Matthew Dix, Pauline (Troy) Somers, Fred Potts, Ross Lambert, Margaret Lambert, David Martin (Meghan) Yamaniski, and Kelly (Andrew) Warner, eleven great grandchildren, one sister, LaVern Apsey of Birmingham, two sisters in law, Mary Elizabeth Jackson and Margaret Ross and several nieces and nephews. Her husband Kenneth Walter Ross preceded her in death on January 7, 1980 and her son, Dale Potts preceded her in death on May, 14, 2000. A memorial service for Mrs. Ross will be held Monday, January 7, 2008, 11 A.M. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Harrisville. Rev. Thomas Welscott will officiate. Her family will receive visitors at the church beginning at 10 A.M... Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorials may be given to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Harrisville, and Habitat for Humanity of Alcona or donor’s choice.
