Ewell Powell, 71, of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at his home. Born October 12, 1940, to Ewell Arcel and Ardith (Turner) Powell in Dyess Colony, Arkansas, he was raised in Pontiac. A longtime resident of Keego Harbor, he was the former mayor having served on the city council. Ewell was a longtime tool maker and welder in the Pontiac Area, moving to Lincoln in 1978. He owned and operated Pam’s Party Store in Lincoln, and was a fur buyer. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, and loved the out of doors, especially the wildlife he could view out of his living room window. He is survived by his wife; Ada, five children; Pamela (Rod) MacKinnon of Spruce, Rhonda Padilla and Janet (Doug) Hubert of Arizona, Kim (Bill) White of Waterford, and Scott Keway of Keego Harbor, and several grandchildren, including Brandon and Ryan MacKinnon. He was preceded in death by his son; Jeff Straub in 2011, by one sister and two brothers. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Ewell’s home, 2810 E. Sucker Creek Road in Lincoln. Cremation arrangements were through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
