Carol H. Sella, age 70, of Harrisville, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Jamieson Nursing Home in Harrisville Township. Carol was raised in East Detroit where she was born on October 5, 1941 to Marion and Helen (Kwiecien) Mergos. She married Richard Sella on July 10, 1965 and they resided in Clinton Township. They moved to Harrisville in 1974. There, Carol and her husband owned and operated Richard’s Pharmacy for 36 years. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and a charter member of the Huron Shores Chamber of Commerce. An active chamber member, Carol was well known for her solicitation of funds for the Harrisville Fireworks display, a labor of love for 28 years. She was also one of the founders of Harrisville’s Wine and Food Festival. Carol loved meeting people through the store, welcoming visitors and locals alike. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family. Carol is survived by her husband and three daughters; Denice (Geoff) Pavey, Maureen Villalobos and Adrienne Sella, one son; Steve (Sarah) Sella, seven grandchildren; Alex, Thomas, Katie and Mary Pavey, Sydney and Nicholas Sella and Ziggy Villalobos, and one sister; Ilene (Gerald) Mergos Garman, and her sister in-law Connie Mergos. She was preceded in death by her twin brother; Fred Mergos, her parents and her stepfather, Zygmund Nowicki. Visitation will be Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 4-8 P.M. at Gillies Funeral Home, Harrisville. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the Mass at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anne Catholic Church, Harrisville. Rev. Lawrence Boks will officiate. Burial will be at St. Anne Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Harrisville Fireworks Fund,Alcona County Chamber of Commerce, Post Office Box 581, Harrisville, Michigan 48740.
