Anthony G. Bianchi, age 89, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in Lincoln. He was born February 22, 1923 in Providence, RI to Robert and Argentina (Valente) Bianchi. Raised in Providence, he joined the Army after graduating from high school. Anthony (Hank) served in the Army Air Corps in WWII and continued to serve in the Air Force during the Korean War and Vietnam War. Serving over 22 years in the Air Force, he retired July 31, 1970 as a Senior Master Sergeant. In 1963 he moved to Lincoln. He was a former member of the Lincoln Lions, the Alcona Community School Board, the Lincoln Zoning Board, and was former President of the 494th Bomb Group (H), Kelley’s Kobras. Hank was an avid reader, traveler, enjoyed repairing antique clocks and attending WWII reunions. He is survived by his daughters, Margaret and Alicia Bianchi, both of Chicago, Kathryn Bianchi of Alpena, and Linda Mitchell of Hubbard Lake; two sons, Robert Bianchi of Brooklyn NY and Michael Bianchi of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Nicola Bianchi, Antony Bianchi, Carly Mitchell and Cole Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Anne Gagnon, Emma DeJessus and Fiorinda Trambukis and one brother, Ben Bianchi. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 7:30 P.M. at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. His family will receive visitors beginning at 5:30 P.M. His ashes will be interred at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly RI. Memorial donations suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
