Violet Kathryn Rasmussen

Violet K. Rasmussen, 97, of Spruce, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Lincoln Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. Born March 18, 1914, to Arthur and Borghild (Rastad) Gunderson in Spruce, she was a lifelong resident. She married Gordon Rasmussen in Spruce on August 21, 1934. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1987. Violet was an active member of Spruce Lutheran Church, and of the WELCA. She was very active, and loved being outside, and she enjoyed crocheting and baking. Violet is survived by her son; Lyle (Jeanne) Rasmussen of Ossineke, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her son; Gerald Rasmussen in June of 2002, her sister; Adelaide Fisher, and two brothers; Orville and Maynard Gunderson. Mrs. Rasmussen is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln where friends may call on Friday, March 2, from 4 until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 3, at Spruce Lutheran Church from 10 am until the funeral service at 11 am. Rev. Laraine Sundin will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations suggested to Spruce Lutheran Church.
