Mary Jean Ashford

Mary Jean Ashford,94, Beloved wife to Jack D. Ashford died Friday, January 6,2012 at their son’s home in Harrisville, Michigan. Jack preceded her in death on January 6, 2011. Mary Jean was born March 21, 1917 in Lansing, Michigan to Duncan and Ada (Greenfield) McRae. She was the eldest of three children; Duncan and Elizabeth Ann preceded her in death. Mary Jean married Jack D. Ashford October 30, 1948 in Greenbush, Michigan. She is survived by their children: Stephen (Ann) Ashford, John (Dawn) Ashford, David (Pame) Ashford and Marilyn (Patrick) Gauthier, 11 grandchildren and sixteen Great Grandchildren. Mary Jean graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1937. From there she attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where she majored in art and fashion design. Upon returning from St. Louis, she worked in Detroit at Hudson’s in the Bridal Department. After Mary Jean and Jack were married in 1948, they made their home in Greenbush, later moving to Harrisville. Both homes were built by Jack. Mary Jean was cherished by her children and family and all that knew her, our heavenly father and our father have welcomed her home. Friends and family may call from 10 A.M.-1 P.M. Monday, January 9, 2012 at Gillies Funeral Home, Harrisville. Funeral Services will be private. Burial will follow at Springport Cemetery, Harrisville.
