Richard Dewey Quick

Richard Dewey Quick, 78, of Harrisville, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Lincoln Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. He was born in Harrisville on September 15, 1933 to Dewey C. and Frances E. (Campbell) Quick of Detroit. He grew up in Detroit, moving to Haynes Township in 1950, and graduated from Harrisville High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956in the Army Corps of Engineers and was also an Army photographer. On February 13, 1957, he married Delores I. Mendyka in Angola Indiana. He worked many years all over Michigan as a heavy equipment operator on road construction. He retired from Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda after 31 years of plowing snow on the runways and becoming a foreman of Roads and Grounds and Housing Maintenance. Richard is survived by his wife; Delores, two sons; James (Kim) Quick of Harrisville, and Douglas (Tamara) Quick of Harrisville, one daughter; Deneen (Rick) Osburn of Traverse City, nine grandchildren; Kasey Jo, L.J., Daniel, Dennis (Jamie), Derek, Nikki and Megan Quick, and Jennifer and Trevor Osburn, one great granddaughter; Ellie Lynn Quick, brothers and sisters in law; Felix and Edith Mendyka of Lincoln, Leon and Jenny Michel of Harrisville, and Jean Mendyka of Lincoln, his former daughter-in-law; Dava Abend of Ossineke, as well as several nieces and nephews. Private burial services will be in Mt. Joy Cemetery, Haynes Township. Arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
