Ruth L. Gauthier, 89, of Harrisville, passed away Monday, January 2, 2012 at Jamieson Nursing Home. Born February 17, 1922, to Mose and May (Socia) Mondeau in Bay City, she has been a lifelong resident of the area. On April 20, 1940, she married Henry Gauthier in Black River, where they resided until moving to Harrisville in 1952. Ruth and Henry owned and operated the Harrisville IGA until 1989. Henry preceded her in death on August 20, 1999. Ruth enjoyed many crafts, including crochet, knitting, and Swedish Embroidery. She liked playing cards and bingo. Ruth was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Harrisville. She is survived by her children; Nancy Bowman of Harrisville, Sharon (Leo) Somers of Lincoln, Michael (Joeann) Gauthier of Rochester, Patrick (Marilyn) Gauthier of Rochester Hills, and Brian (Cindy) Gauthier of Xenia OH, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, two sisters; Dorothy Townsend of Bay City and Vi (Jim) Thomas of Zephyrhills FL, and one brother; Leonard (Margaret) Mondeau of Kawkawlin, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Mrs. Gauthier is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln where friends may call on Wednesday, January 4 from 4 until 8 pm, with a Rosary Service at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, January 5 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Harrisville, from 10 am until the Funeral Mass at 11 am. Rev. Lawrence Boks will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery.
