Irwin “Hank” Thompson, 68, of Harrisville, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. Born January 26, 1943 to Fred and Ionia (Clark) Thompson in Mikado, he was a lifelong resident of Alcona County. Hank served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966. He worked as a maintenance foreman for RPI. He enjoyed all things nature; especially hunting and bird watching. He really liked spending time with Elizabeth “Booter”. An avid gardener, Hank was very proud of the elaborate garden he tended to year after year. Hank is survived by three children; Guy (Samantha) Thompson of Tawas City, Erika Vulcano of West Branch, and Keith Thompson of Harrisville, four grandchildren; Justin and Mekala Thompson and Dominic and Faith Vulcano, two brothers; Fred (Janet) Thompson of Harrisville, and Abe (Lila) Thompson of Butler TN, and his long time companion; Sherry Dumont, and his extended family, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son; Andy Thompson on May 28, 2007, a sister; Zelpha Lakeman, and two brothers; Lowell and Eddie Thompson. There will be a memorial luncheon on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Mikado Civic Center. Cremation arrangements were made by Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorial donations suggested to the Mikado Goodfellows.
