Irven P. Ward, 73, of Mikado, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital. Born September 17, 1938, to Harry and Blanche (Morrison) Ward in Alcona County, he was raised here. On June 8, 1957, he married Verda Fowler in Kilmaster. They were residents of Flint while Irwen worked for General Motors. He retired after 31 years to Mikado. Irwen enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was proud to be a part of the efforts to build a steeple at the Solid Rock Church of God in Harrisville. He is survived by his wife; Verda, two sons; Rick and Irven James Ward, three grandchildren; Ricky, Shelly and Aaron, two great grandchildren; Willow and Alleyson, and three brothers; Arnold (Ruth), Kenneth, and Melvin (Gertie) Ward. He was preceded in death by his brother; Floyd Ward. Mr. Ward is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Friday, December 9, from 2 until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, December 10, from 11 am until the funeral service at 1 pm. Rev. Edward Morrison will officiate. Burial will be in Mikado Cemetery.
