Albert Detloff

February 20, 1947 — November 27, 2011

Albert Detloff, 64, of Spruce passed away early November 27, 2011 at his home with his faithful companion “Frenchy” by his side. He was born to the Albert and Beatrice (Arczyinski) Detloff on February 20, 1947 in Detroit. He was raised in the suburbs surrounding the Detroit area. On November 19, 1977 he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Suchy at the United Methodist Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Albert and Barbara moved to Ossineke to raise their two small children. Al became an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapping. He always said “out of all the wild creatures he trapped the scariest thing was a cat!” Al loved to travel with his family and show them what great sites America had to offer, counting of the states they had traveled thru and teaching his children how to read maps was one of his main priorities. Rock-n-Roll, Blues, and whatever tune that had a great beat, Al treasured. If you needed a name of a song, he could give you the Artist, song name and sing it for you. In his spare time Al shot pool on a pool table that he had inherited from his father; if only that pool table could talk! The fun times and memories will never be forgotten and will always be cherished. From the sound of the first break in 1958 to the last eight ball had sunk. Surviving are his former wife; Barbara Detloff of Harrisville, one son; David (Jackie) Detloff of Pittsburgh, PA and two daughters; Stephanie (Michael) Walker of Harrisville, and Dawn of Ormond Beach FL, one grandson; Travis Walker, his mother; Beatrice Detloff, of Mt. Clemens, one sister; Lorraine Curtis, and one sister-in-law; Della Detloff. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert and his brother; Chris Detloff. Friends may call on Saturday, December 4, from 11:00 AM until the memorial service at 1:00 pm at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Rev. Arie Van Brenk will officiate.
