Eddie E. Thompson, 78, of Mikado, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. Born May 10, 1933, to Fred A. and Ionia (Clark) Thompson in Mikado, he was raised there. Eddie served in the United States Army, and worked for General Motors. He retired to Mikado after 29 years with GM. Eddie enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially moose hunting in Canada. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed word searches and puzzles. He liked country music, and watching NASCAR races. He is survived by three brothers; Fred (Janet) of Harrisville, Abe (Lila) of Butler TN, and Hank (Sherry) of Harrisville, 8 nieces and nephews, and 10 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother; Lowell Thompson, his sister; Zelpha Lakeman and his nephew Andy Thpmpson. Eddie is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Sunday, from 2 until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday at the funeral home from 11 am until the service at 1 pm. Rev. Richard Karsen Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Springport Cemetery. Memorial donations suggested to the Mikado Goodfellows, or to the Mikado Fire Department.
