Vernon Alvord, 43, of Glennie, died July 21, 2007 at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital. He was born to Ronald & Leah (Brant) Alvord, April 15, 1964 in Detroit, MI and was raised in Royal Oak, MI. He married Patricia (Patsy) Monroe November 10, 1990 in St. Clair. He served as a Marine, lived in Sandusky, MI for six years, and then moved to Glennie in 2001. Vernon was an iron worker in metro Detroit and taught Native American Culture in different schools around the state. He was a first responder for the Curran and Curtis Fire Departments. Vernon is survived by his wife, his daughters Jamie and Leah and son Travis at home, his mother Leah (Marvin) Cooper of St. Clair, his father Ronald Alvord of Warren, brothers Dave of Port Huron, Ron and Greg Alvord of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada, grandmother Ann Baker, stepson Jeramie (Melissa) Maza, of Belleville, two step granddaughters Brianna and Kaylee and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
