Gayle E. Simmons, 68, died peacefully at home on November 7, 2011. Her parents were the late Robert E. and Helen (Gavluk) Pentland of Marysville, MI. She is survived by her husband; Richard Simmons of Mikado, three sons; Michael of Chesapeake, VA, Mark of Virginia Beach, VA, Tom (Beth) of Temperance MI, and one daughter; Tami (Mark) Pezel of Wiesbaden, Germany. Gayle was blessed with nine grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister; Robin Ferguson of Carson City MI. Gayle worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company in Port Huron before moving to Alcona County with her family in 1979. She began working in the Alcona County Clerkâs Office in 1980, and served as the County Clerk for twelve years before retiring in December 2004. Gayle was actively involved in multiple Alcona Community School activities as well as the Alcona Athletic Association. She attended the New Life Lutheran Church in Spruce, and was a member of the Habitat for Humanity Board, the Greenbush Chamber of Commerce, and the Mikado American Legion Auxiliary. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 1:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 11 am at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. Rev. Chrissy Bright will officiate. Memorial donations suggested to Hospice of Michigan, Alcona Humane Society, or New Life Lutheran Church.
