Mary Jane (Jarman) Hopper passed away Saturday, November 5th, 2011. A lifelong Episcopalian she was born in Detroit, June 18, 1927 to Ernest “Burt” and Ivy (Fullford) Jarman. She attended Grace Hospital School of Nursing as a member of the United States Cadet Nursing Corp graduating in 1948. She married Theodore Alan Hopper on May 14, 1949; he preceded her in death on July 30, 2008. Mary Jane is survived by four sons, Preston (Deborah) of Jackson, Mark (Vicki) of Saline, Rodney (Betty) of Flat Rock and Bruce (Lisa) of Waukesha, Wisconsin. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Shawn (Valaurie), Devin, Colin; Brian, Erin; Renee, Alex; Meghan, Ian, and Caitlin, one great grandchild, Declan with another on the way, two sisters; Edythe Fuller and Judy Venuto, and one brother; Skip Jarman. She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Kirchoff. Mary Jane retired as Associate Director of Nursing at Heritage Hospital in Talyor in 1987. Being a life-long learner she graduated from the University of Detroit with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services in 1981 She was active in her church (St. Andrews by the Lake of Harrisville MI.), a former member of the Alcona County Library Board, an avid reader who dearly loved her home on Lake Huron in Black River Michigan. Memorial donations suggested to Alcona Humane Society, Alcona County Library, or to St. Andrews By the Lake Episcopal Church, Harrisville. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 1:00 PM at St. Andrews by-the-lake Episcopal Church in Harrisville.
