Robert E. Sprague, 83, of Mikado died Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Covenant Harrison Hospital in Saginaw. He was born May 26, 1924 in Big Rapids where he was raised. Robert served in the Army in WWII where he flew missions from England, later he joined the US Air Force, where he served at Forbes A.F.B. Kansas, Wright Patterson A.F.B., Ohio and then Wurtsmith A.F.B.. On Nov. 23, 1953 he married Freda A. Blankenship in Lawrence, Kansas. A Mikado resident since 1965, he was a member of the American Legion Oscoda Post #274. Survivors include his wife Freda and two daughters, Debora (Bryan)Shellenbarger of Oscoda and Sandra (Gerald) Covey of Anchorage, Alaska; two sons, Donald (Donna) Sprague of Black River and Randy (Mary) Sprague of Beloit, Kansas, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A son, Ronnie preceded him in death. Friends may call from 2- 4 P.M. Sunday at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. The funeral will be held at 1 P.M. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Eric Hendricks officiating. Burial will be at the Mikado Cemetery
