Justin Charles McCray

Justin C. McCray, 22, of Lynchburg VA, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 in Lynchburg. Born May 1, 1989 to Robert Jr. and Melissa (Shepherd) McCray at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, he was raised in Greenbush. He attended the Word of Life Bible Institute of Hudson Florida. Justin went on several Christian mission trips. He served in the United States Air Force, and was honorably discharged on July 8, 2011. Justin had a huge heart, and would do anything for anybody. He was very friendly, and enjoyed helping and getting to know his neighbors. A talented musician, Justin sang and played the guitar. He also loved to sing in church. He is survived by his parents; one sister; Rachel (Mark) Travis of Lynchburg, VA, his paternal grandmother; Rosalie McCray, maternal grandfather; Charles Shepherd, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother; Marilyn Shepherd, and paternal grandfather; Robert J. McCray Sr. Justin is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where friends may call on Wednesday from 2 until 5 pm and 6 until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church in Mikado at 10 am until the funeral service at 11 am. Rev. Tim Steiner and Rev. Larry Richmond will officiate. Burial will be in Mikado Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established in Justin’s name by his family.
