Sophia S. Schwartz

Sophia S. Schwartz, 92, of Greenbush, died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Tenderdcare Greenview, Alpena. Born Sophia Dreczkowski on May, 15, 1915 in Detroit, she was raised there and a longtime resident. Sophia worked for Sanders Bakery as a cookie packer, and during WWII worked for Excellol. She married Adam McHaffie moving to Royal Oak in the latter 1940’s. He preceded her in death in 1968. She married Leo Schwartz and moved to Greenbush in 1982. Leo preceded her in death in 1993. Sophia enjoyed crocheting, gardening, feeding and watching the birds and just being in the woods. A life long catholic, she attended St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Harrisville. Survivors include her son, Matthew (Marcia) McHaffie of Boulder, Colorado. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, June 27, 2007, 11 A.M. at St. Anne Catholic Church, Harrisville with Rev. Peter Eke officiating. Burial will be in Springport Cemetery, Harrisville.
