Shelvy J. Cessna, 73, of Mikado, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. Born December 5, 1937, to Charles and Rosie (Felix) Custer, in Napier Township Pennsylvania, she was raised in Schellsburg, PA. In 1955, she graduated from Schellsburg Napier High School. On March 1, 1959, she married Ronald Cessna in Rainsburg PA. Ron’s career in the United States Air Force allowed them to live in many places, including Ohio, Okinawa Japan, Tennessee, and Arkansas. In 1972 they moved to Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, and moved to Mikado in 1979. Shelvy was an avid shopper, always after a good sale. She enjoyed travelling and she loved music, playing the piano and violin. Shelvy is survived by her husband Ron; two daughters; Barbara Cessna of Beaverton OR, and Laura Hollnagel of Harrisville, one son Ronald L. (Dayle) Cessna of Wichita KS, four grandchildren; Jessica (Steve) VandeBunte, Jaymes Hollnagel, Melissa and Carolyn Cessna, one great granddaughter; Olivia VandeBunte, two sisters; Grace (Glenn) Callihan, Martinsburg PA, and Loretta Nunamaker of Osterburg PA, and two brothers; Ralph (Ann) Custer, of Worhtington PA, and Douglas Custer of Schellsburg PA. She was preceded in death by her brother Ronald Custer. There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, July 19 at 1:00 PM at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln.
