Donald J. Minzey, 75, of Black River died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at home. Don was born April 12, 1932 in Flint to Delmer and Bessie (Hansel) Minzey. He was raised in Flint and married LaBarabra Morrison there on November 10, 1951. Don served in the army during the Korean War. In 1963 Don and LaBarabra moved to Grand Blanc, moving to Burton in 1993 and then to Black River in 1999. LaBarbara preceded him in death on June 21, 2000. He was a member of the Ossineke Eagles Aerie 3762, the Sunrise Moose Lodge 2278 and the Veterans of Foreign wars Burton Post. Survivors include three daughters, Susan (Thomas) Stokes of St. Helen, Sherry (Robert “Fuzz”) Donakowski of Spruce, and Shelli (Larry) King of Clarkston; one son, Donald (Peggy) Minzey of Grand Blanc; three brothers, James (Helen) Minzey of Byron, William (Beverly) Minzey of Birch Run, and Kenneth (Elaine) Minzey of Florida; seven grandchildren including two special grandchildren, Jennifer Minzey and Christopher Lash and several great grandchildren. Don’s sister, Mary Shutt, proceeded in death by his. Mr. Minzey is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will be Friday, June 8, 2007 from 4-8 P.M. His funeral service will be Saturday 1 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Edward Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Joy Cemetery, Haynes Township, Michigan.
