Nancy Ann Gillard, 86, of Spruce passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at her home. Born August 17, 1924, to Albert and Laura (Cole) Wauchek in Kalamazoo, she was raised in Gobles, MI. She married Ernest Gillard on April 19, 1947, in Gobles. She worked as a Chemist at Dow Chemical Plant in Midland until 1948. Nancy and Ernie moved to Spruce in 1978. Nancy was an avid Bridge player, enjoyed quilting, traveling, spending time at their cottage on Hubbard Lake and was a Master Pie maker. She was also an active member of Spruce Presbyterian Church, and of its Choir and Women’s Association. She is survived by her husband, Ernest, one daughter; Gretchen Rudy of Detroit, two sons; Scott (Susan) Gillard of Ridgeway, Ohio and Roger (Clara) Gillard of Lincoln Park, Michigan, five grandchildren; Dana Marie Rudy, Meilana, Maria, Alan John, and Ernest Peter Gillard, three great-grandchildren; Devon, Marcella and Clara, one sister-in-law; Lucille Gillard, her special cousin; Barbara Rust, and nieces and nephews; Lisa Blanchard and Amy and Peter Gillard. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law; Donald Gillard. Visitation for Nancy will be Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Spruce Presbyterian Church in Spruce with the Funeral service following at 2:00 P.M.., Rev. Tom Welscott will be officiating. Mrs. Gillard will be laid to rest in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Spruce. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation or the Spruce Presbyterian Scholarship Fund.
