Aune E. Hill, 86, of South Lyon, formerly of Barton City, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 at her home. Born May 10, 1925, to Victor and Lempi Mackie in Rudyard, MI, she was raised there. On December 16, 1944, she married Ernest I. Hill in Sault Ste. Marie. They were residents of Detroit and Garden City, where Aune worked as the school cafeteria manager for the Garden City School District. They retired to Barton City in 1983. Aune enjoyed reading and jigsaw puzzles. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening and canning, and she loved to dance. She was a member of New Life Lutheran Church in Spruce. Aune is survived by two sons; Ronald (Donarae) Hill of South Lyon, MI, and Ken (Margaret) Hill of Spring Hill TN, seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; Ernest on August 8, 2008, and by one sister and four brothers. Mrs. Hill is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln where visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 21 from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 22 at 11 am at the funeral home. Rev. Douglas McCormick will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery, Barton City.
