Betty Papin LaCross

Betty Bromund Papin LaCross age 89, Alpena, passed away peacefully with family and friends at her side on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Tendercare Nursing Home, Long Rapids, Alpena. Betty was born October 21, 1921 in Alpena to Arthur and Mae (Kennedy)Bromund. She was raised in Alpena and was a proud graduate of Alpena High School. On June 29, 1940 she married Camille Papin. Residents of Black River, they built the family farm. She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church of Black River and was a longtime employee of the Harrisville Tool Company and later worked at Rolled Products of Oscoda. She had also been employed at Lost lake Woods Club. Her husband Camille preceded her in death on June 29, 1978. In 1985 Betty married her high school sweetheart, Norman LaCross. The moved to Lincoln and enjoyed traveling across the country including western states and Hawaii. They attended St. Anne Catholic Church, Harrisville. Norman preceded her in death in 1998. She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Dziesinski of Alpena, Linda (Joe) Hastings of Black River and Karen (Bob) Nielsen of Alpena, two sons, Robert Papin of Black River and Ronald (Bonnie) Papin of Drummond Island, sixteen grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, two brothers, Robert Bromund of Alpena and Jim Bromund of Alpena and several nieces and nephews, special friends Kathy Stevens, Kay and Gary LaCross and her extended family at Tendercare. She was preceded in death by her sister; Dorothy Bromund. A celebration of Betty’s life will take place on Monday, June 20, 2011 at St Gabriel Catholic Church, Black River. Her family will receive friends at 1 :00 P.M.. Mass will begin at 2:00 P.M., Rev. Bissot officiating. Memorials may be given to the Alcona or Alpena Humane Societies.
