Donald H. Schrade

Donald H. Schrade, 87, of Mikado, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Jamieson Nursing Home in Harrisville. Born October 2, 1923, to Edward and Hazel (Miller) Schrade in Mt. Clemens, he lived most of his life in Mikado. On April 7, 1962, he married Harriet Teeple Lovelace. Don owned and operated Schrade Forest Products from 1956 until 2003. He was a former Mikado Township Trustee, and member of the Mikado Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Association of Timbermen, Oscoda, and of the Alcona Farm Bureau, and the Alcona Soil Conservation District. Don was an avid baseball player for Mikado, and once pitched 23 straight innings in a double header, allowing only one run in the second game. He was a member of the Trinity Ev Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Don is survived by his wife; Harriet, one son; Leslie (Deena) Schrade of Virginia, three step-daughters; Beverly (Allen) Travis of Harrisville, Priscilla (Ron) Deller of Harrisville, and Linda (Rick) Dickens of Madison, Alabama, three step-sons; Glen (Kay) Lovelace of Mikado, Daniel (Delynn) Lovelace of Mikado, and Christopher (MaryEllen) Lovelace of Glennie, one son-in-law; William Smith, 24 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren, one sister; Beatrice Schrade of Lincoln and one brother; Lloyd (Sharon) Schrade of Mikado. He was preceded in death by his daughter; Donna Smith on April 13, 1997, and by two brothers; Douglas and Ralph Schrade. Mr. Schrade is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln where visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14 from 4 until 8 pm. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, at 11 am at the funeral home. Rev.
