Joseph F. Ankner, 85, of Ossineke, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at his home. He was born April 14, 1926 in Royal Oak, MI. to Joseph A. and Almina (Doyle). An army veteran of WWII, he served in the 519th Military Police. On February 13, 1948 he married Mabel Darling she preceded him in death on December 8, 2002. A resident of Lincoln for 34 years, he was a retired operating engineer, a member of Local 324. He was an honor guard while a member of the Burger Weidbrauk Post 8135, V.F.W. and the POW Alpena. He was a dedicated father and caregiver. He is survived by four sons; Anthony Lee (Sherrie Dault), Mark Allen (Diana Mayo), Brian James (Sherry Homeier) and Scott Joseph, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two sisters; Jo Ann Grant and Gloria (David) Loucks, two brothers; Glenn Pearce and Leo (Phebie) Pearce, and one sister in law, Janet Pearce. He was preceded in death by his son; Stanley Dominic “Nicky” Ankner, two sisters; Edith Tucker, and Marian Wilburn, two brothers; Richard and Joseph Pearce, and three brothers-in-law; William Tucker, Philip Wilburn, and Carl Grant. Mr. Ankner is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 1 from 2 until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday at 12 noon until the funeral service at 1 pm at the funeral home. Rev. A.C. Caincross will officiate. Burial will be in Twin Lakes Cemetery, Lincoln.
