Cora E. LaValle, 78, of Lincoln, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at her home. Born on March 14, 1933 to Doc and Leona Brown in Oak Grove, LA, she was raised in Louisiana and Texas. In 1965, she moved to Michigan, and in 1992 she moved to Lincoln. Cora was a devoted homemaker, and will be remembered as a caring mom and a great friend. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Cora was an active member of Family Heritage Baptist Church in Harrisville. Cora is survived by her husband; Norman Welch, four daughters; Debbie Pitcher of Texas, Brinda McKenzie of East Tawas, Linda (Roger) Alderidge of Mt. Pleasant and Sanja (Moises) Rojas of Canton, 15 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Mrs. LaValle is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Thursday, April 7 from 4 until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, April 8 at the funeral home from 11 am until the Funeral Service at 12 noon. Pastor Ernest Ruemenapp will officiate. Burial will be in Twin Lakes Cemetery, Lincoln later in the spring. Memorial donations suggested to Family Heritage Baptist Church.
