Arnold James “Jim” Gerow Jr., 80, of Hubbard Lake died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. Jim was born April 25, 1927 in Hubbard Lake to Arnold and Beatrice (Cornelius) Gerow. A lifelong resident of Hubbard Lake, he married Eleanor Tracey on Nov. 8, 1947. He was a member of the Ossineke United Methodist Church. Jim was an Alcona County Sheriff Deputy for 37 years and served on the Hubbard Lake Fire Department, was a member and past president of the Hubbard Lake Community Association and also was a member of the Hubbard Lake Sportsman Association. He was well known for building wooden rocking horses. Survivors include his wife and two daughters, Deb (Ed) La Feldt of Hubbard Lake and Jill Pendry of Gaylord; Five sons, Timothy (Julie) Gerow of Alpena, Curtis (Judy) Gerow of Hubbard Lake, Craig (Tammy) Gerow of Hubbard Lake, Scott (Kim) Gerow of Rockford and Kyle (Tammy) Gerow of Sumter, South Carolina; seventeen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one step brother, Barry Davis of Grayling. He was preceded in death by his sister, Violet Snyder and a great granddaughter Samantha. A memorial service will be held at the Ossineke United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Steve Euper officiating. Jim’s family will begin receiving visitors at 10:00 A.M. at the Church on Saturday. Memorials suggested to the Ossineke United Methodist Church Building Fund. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
