Laurence Travis, 91, Mikado, died Thursday March 10, 2011 at home. He was born November 11, 1919 in Mikado to Edgar and Lillian (Dickinson) Travis. He served in the Army in WWII, where he served in the European Theatre. He married Twila Fernsemer on September 22, 1942. A lifelong resident of Mikado, he was a member of the calvary Baptist Church of Mikado and had been employed in Oscoda at the Pool Cue Factory. His wife preceded him in death on December 26, 1996. Five brothers also preceded him in daeth. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Newland of Naples FL, four sons, Rod (Carla) of Mikado, Ken (Barb) of Scappoose OR, Terry (Kathy) of Morris and Carl of Mikado, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church, Mikado, 3:00P.M., Rev. Tim Steiner officiating . Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral home, Lincoln.
