Douglas R. Olson

Douglas R. Olson, 53, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at home. He was born April 27, 1957 in Detroit. Raised in Detroit and Spruce, he was a chef and had been employed by the Grand Traverse Resort. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and cooking. He is survived by his parents, Boyden and Arlene (Timm) Olson of Spruce, two sons, Erik and Keith of Taylor, his step daughter Angela of Taylor, his brother, Michael (Linda) of Thompson Station TN, his step granddaughter, Brinlee and his former wife Carol, as well as his beloved best friend and pet dog, Nikki. Visitation will be Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 12 P.M. until the Funeral at 2 P.M. at the Spruce Lutheran Church, Rev. Laraine Sundin officiating. Spring burial will take place at the Pleasant View, Cemetery, Spruce. Memorials may be directed to Spruce Lutheran Memorial Fund or to his family.
