Bonnie L. Merritt, 67, of Mikado died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at home. Born August 20, 1943 to Elmer and Rena (Joralemon) Vinson in Troy, PA, she was raised there. In 1966, she moved to Southeastern Michigan, and began a career with General Motors. On April 26, 1968, she married Merle Merritt in Ypsilanti. They retired to Mikado in 2006. Bonnie loved to crochet, and won 2nd place in the state of New York for two tablecloths. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, and cooking. She is survived by her husband, Merle, one daughter, Rena (Mike Burgess) Merritt of Oscoda Mi, three sons, Edward (Cathy) Merritt of White Lake, Mi, Jeff (Tracey) Merritt of Azalia, MI and Alonzo (Carey) Merritt of Monroe, MI, eight grandchildren; Deborah, Joshua, Jessica, Christine, Jeffrey, Randi, and Jodi Merritt, and Thomas Hall, two great grandchildren; Quentin Leys and Savannah Merritt, four sisters; Dolores (Jim) Henry, Audrey Puglisi, Ethel (Bob) Anderson and Linda (Kevin) Polovick and two brothers; Ned Vinson, and Garth (Carol) Vinson, two sisters-in-law; Wanda, and Marilyn Vinson as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by four brothers; Jimmy, Delos, Charles, and Dewayne Vinson, and one sister-in-law; Shirley Vinson. Mrs. Merritt is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will be Sunday, Feb.27, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. and Monday from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral at 1:00 P.M. Rev. John Harris will officiate. Memorials suggested to Tawas St. Joseph Hospital.
