Andrew Kowalski

Andrew Stephan Kowalski, of Harrisville, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at his residence. Born April 28, 1920, to Stephan and Helen (Frankow) Kowalski in Detroit, Michigan, he was raised there. Mr. Kowalski was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the American Theater and European African Middle East Theater from 1942 to 1945. In 1947 he married Ruth Elsie (Kelker) in Highland Park. Andrew worked for Ford Motor Company as a Paint Mixer, retiring in 1974, and moved to Harrisville, Michigan. Andrew was a member of the Alcona VFW Post #6466, and was a recipient of a Michigan Woodcarvers Association cane. He is survived by his Brother Stanley (Irene) Kowalski, several nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. Andrew was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 2005, and Daughter; Suzanne Saylers in 1990. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 2 pm at the Alcona VFW Post #6466, Harrisville, MI. Cremation arrangements were handled by Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, Michigan.
