William Kniffen

William Kniffen 90, of Harrisville died Saturday, April 14, 2007 in Harrisville. He was born December 13, 1916 to Ralph and Bertha (Hill) Kniffen in Mt. Pleasant where he has raised. On June 16, 1940 he married Maxine Booth in Merritt. They were residents of Merritt, Cheboygan, Bangor, Ann Arbor, California, Hamilton, Montana moving to Lincoln (Lost Lake Woods Club) in 1986 and to Harrisville in 1989. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lincoln where he had served as a deacon. Mr. Kniffen had been a horticulturist before retirement. Mr. Kniffen is survived by two daughters, Jeannette (Hank) Winters of Hamilton Montana and Ann Chontos of Hebron, North Dakota, two sons, Gary (Judy) Kniffen of Black River and Mark (Gail) Kniffen of Cayucos California, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, his close friend and companion, Shirley Ouillet, and one sister, Mildred Kniffen of Ann Arbor, MI. Mr. Kniffen was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine on February 9, 2000 and two brothers and seven sisters. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Inurnment will take place at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor. Memorials suggested to Hospice of Michigan Northeastern Region.
