Russell B. Geary, 92, of Barton City, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011 at his home. Born August 17, 1918, to Aldis and Tillie (Tell) Geary in Farmington, MI, he was raised there. Russ was a Transportation Engineer with Bejin Trucking in Detroit. Russ served in the United States Army during World War II, with the 103rd Infantry Division, and in Rhineland of Central Europe. On June 25, 1960, he married Florence Shuttleworth in Mt. Pleasant, and they were residents of Detroit. In 1980, they moved to Barton City. Russ attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Barton City. He was a member of the Burger-Wiedbrauk VFW Post 8135 in Barton City, and the American Legion Post 254 in Mikado. He was a Golden Eagle with the FOE 2265 in Redford, MI and an Honorary Eagle with the FOE 4144 in Barton City. He is survived by his wife; Flo, son; Robert (Linda) Geary, stepson; Gerald Cameron, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven sisters and five brothers. Mr. Geary is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Friday, January 29, from 4 until 8pm. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, January 29 at 1 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Laraine Sundin will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery, Barton City in the spring.
