Collette F. Schott, 70, of Mikado, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. Born June 22, 1940 to Efren and Alice (Deer) Lopez in Detroit, she was raised there. On June 11, 1960, she married Richard Schott. Collette worked as an Indian Outreach Worker for the Urban Indian Affairs Office in Wayne County for many years before retiring in 2000 to Greenbush. Collette was a longtime member of the North American Indian Association of Detroit where she was a former board member. She enjoyed bead work, garage sales, and giving Native American presentations at area schools. Collette is survived by four daughters; Rene Madelynn Simanovich of Fair Haven, Leah Kathleen Mathis of Lincoln, Delia Therese Schott of Harrisville, and Lorraine Alma Schott of Harrisville, three sons; Richard Lee Schott II of Grosse Ponite Park, Mark Daniel Schott of Brethren, and Robert Luke Schott of Rio Rancho NM, 21 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one sister; Rene Esther Sherman of Troy, and two brothers; William Glen Lopez of Grosse Isle, and Arthur Fredirico Lopez of Addy Washington, and her favorite son Chuck. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 4, 2007, one sister and four brothers. Mrs. Schott is at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will take place on Thursday, January 6 from 2 until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday from 11 am until the funeral service at 1 pm.
